One injured in Waterfall robbery

2016-02-16 06:00

A 28-YEAR-OLD Waterfall resident is lucky to be alive after three men broke into his house during the early hours of the morning and hit him with a crowbar on Wednesday.

According to Hillcrest SAPS CPF public relations officer Steven King, the man got up to a banging sound in his lounge.

“He ran to see what was happening and discovered that two men were forcing open his door and Trellidor,” said King.

“He tried to hold them off, then a third man arrived and they managed to get in.”

King said the victim ran to fetch his baseball bat and was followed by one suspect.

“He managed to swing at one of them hitting him on his left side - either on his elbow or shoulder. The two other suspects then pinned him down and the third suspect hit him twice on his head with a crowbar,” King said.

“He struggled with them and managed to run to a neighbour, covered in blood. The suspects then went into the house and left with a 42" Samsung smart TV and a HP laptop.”

Securelink and SA Cares attended the scene. The victim was taken to hospital by a neighbour. Hillcrest SAPS was notified and a case opened.
