Pinetown serial rapist arrested

2017-01-24 06:01

PINETOWN Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested a 22-year-old serial rapist on Wednesday 18 January.
Since September 2016 the suspect has been terrorising victims aged between 11 and 22 in Pinetown.
In all incidents the suspect would approach his victims in the Pinetown CBD, befriend them and then lure them to the nearby forest. At some stage he would force the victims threatening them with a bread knife and eventually raping them. On 17 January a 22-year-old victim was in Pinetown Centre on the way to a local store when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect asked for the victim’s name and started befriending her. He also asked the victim to accompany him to fetch money from his mother, a domestic worker.
As they were walking in Lahee Park, the suspect grabbed the victim and forced her to the bushes and raped her.

The case was reported at Pinetown Police Station and handed over to Pinetown FCS for further investigation. The members worked tirelessly since the report of these cases and the suspect was arrested. - Supplied.
