DAMON Beard’s popular “The Big Favour” on East Coast Radio Breakfast has helped thousands of East Coasters and now has a new time slot - every Thursday at 7.40am.
Hillcrest Fever
reporter, KALISHA NAICKER chatted to him.

KN: What is The Big Favour?

DB: The Big Favour draws on the ECR’s brand dominance and helps to make the dreams of the less fortunate come true.

KN: What drives you and your team?

DB: I do The Big Favour because I can make a difference in people's lives through incredible sponsors.

KN: Describe one of the stories that has touched you.

DB: One of the stories that touched me was the dying wish of a young boy who was had cancer. His only dream was to stay in a hotel with his mom, dad and brother - not a motorbike or overseas trip - just one night in a hotel that most of us would take for granted.
We arranged everything and he was spoilt beyond words. Hamburgers and milkshakes for dinner, the Penthouse to accommodate them, a trip up Moses Mabhida Stadium, a visit to uShaka - anything and everything he could have possibly wished for, he got. He died a few weeks later.

KN: Who is the one person you look up to?

DB: Nelson Mandela.

KN: How does hosting The Big Favour make you feel?

DB: Just being able to make a difference in a person's life is reward enough.

KN: What’s your favourite food?

DB: Thai.
