South Africans must now take a stand

2017-04-11 06:00

I AM totally amazed at President Jacob Zuma’s decision to fire Pravin Gordhan as Minister of Finance and replace him with someone who knows nothing about finance.

It is like appointing a teacher with a diploma to attend to patients in a hospital as a medical doctor.

As Malusi Gigaba has said, and I quote: “All of us need to live a good life”, meaning that only the followers of Zuma will have that good life and not the poor and disadvantaged people who are struggling every day. Our country is in such turmoil and I agree with the SACP, which says that the doors are now going to be wide open for culprits to start looting from Treasury.

Why did he fire Nhlanhla Nene and recall Gordhan in 2015? He had a hidden agenda from the very beginning and was waiting for all this to happen before he quits his high seat.

To Gordhan, do not let people use you as a scapegoat and to clean up after them or cover up their wrongdoings.

Ahmed Kathrada’s letter to Zuma could not have come at a better time for the people of South Africa to know that their president is more than just inefficient and ineffective for this country.

Zuma was fooling himself when he said his reasons for the axing and reshuffling were greater efficiency and effectiveness, because he is neither of the above. South Africans need to all take a stand and demand their beautiful country back. We are moving towards being a Third World country, if not already there.
