THE Irish Gastro Pub evening, a fundraising event hosted by the Guild of St Mary’s Old Girls, promises to be a festive occasion of fine food as well as craft beer and wine tasting, all with an Irish twist.

The event takes place on Saturday, June 24, at 6.30pm at Bellevue Café in Kloof. Tickets are R400 per person and the proceeds will be used to build the St Mary’s Foundation Trust and support the Inanda Soup Kitchen.

The St Mary’s Foundation was created for advancing the interests of St Mary’s to be an everlasting school.

Its goal is to create a capital fund with the interest earned being used to transform lives through the provision of financial support.

The foundation would like to grow this programme so it can assist more girls in the years to come.

In addition, the Inanda Soup Kitchen will be receiving a portion of the funds raised.

The soup kitchen is based next to a church near Inanda Dam and runs every Wednesday lunch time, when the 150 to 180 children come across after school to enjoy a hot meal.

Robyn O’Donovan (St Mary’s Old Girl) started this 18 months ago. The Guild have retained the same charity as last year because they have been able to expand their reach in educating a student at Cedara Agricultural College.

“A big thank you to our three sponsors, Setzkorn Health and Wealth Consulting, Lipsano lip care and Whispering Waters Resort, who have been involved with the Guild fundraising events for a number of years.

“Also thanks to Bellevue Café in Kloof who have assisted with the fabulous food and venue over the last three years.”

The R400 ticket price includes a three-course Irish meal, a choice of craft beer or wine tasting paired with each course and fantastic silent auction items to bid for on the night, not to mention great music company and Irish fun.

This is a ‘not to be missed’ event.

To book or sponsor a prize, please contact the chairlady of the Guild, Derry Jurgensen, on 083 786 1829 or email her on derrybj@telkomsa.net
