Support for SAPS Golf Day sought

2016-05-24 06:00

THE SAPS Widows and Orphan Fund Golf Day will be held on Wednesday 8 June at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. The host will be cricket legend Mike Procter.
This fund-raising event was initiated 11-years-ago with the aim of raising funds and awareness for the families of police officials who have been killed in the line of duty.
Pinetown SAPS communication officer Warrant officer BJ Manqele said more than 400 families of police officials in KwaZulu-Natal are supported by the fund, which is solely dependent on the voluntary contributions of police officials, donations from the public and fund-raising events such as this golf day.
"Companies from across corporate South Africa have also, unequivocally supported this great cause. In the spirit of giving, the Widows and Orphans Fund Golf Day committee asks the public to join them in raising funds so they can provide further assistance to the families of fallen colleagues.
“Please pledge your support in the form of sponsorships or donations of a monetary nature or donations of prizes to help the cause."
