Suspect arrested in break-in

2017-10-10 06:01

A LOCAL security armed response officer recovered a car amplifier, a power amplifier, remotes, DVD inputs and DVDs following the arrest of a housebreaker in Old Main Road in Hillcrest on Saturday at around 5.20am.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said: “An officer also recovered a small bar fridge, which was not taken during the housebreaking when he searched bins and trolleys at the nearby taxi rank.

“The burglar smashed a shop window to gain entry onto the business premises and was found hiding in the toilet when our officers arrived at the scene.

“He had locked himself in the toilet and while our officers were busy kicking down the door he tried to escape by climbing into the ceiling.

He eventually agreed to come out of hiding and face the consequences of his crime,” Mathios said.

Mathios said the suspect was handed over to Hillcrest SAPS at the scene.
