Suspects arrested for unlicenced firearm

2017-08-01 06:00

THREE men were arrested by Pinetown SAPS detectives last week for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

According the Pinetown SAPS spokesperson Captain Bongumusa Manqele the detectives were doing their routine duties in the area when they received information from the informant about a business robbery that was going to take place at one of the restaurants in New Germany.

“They were given the full description of the suspects and then proceeded to the scene where they parked within a short distance away from the restaurant.

“Detectives spotted the suspects who fitted the same description that was given to them earlier. Upon approaching the suspects, they tried to run away but were apprehended. Detectives recovered two pistols and 18 rounds of ammunition from the suspects. The suspects were placed under arrest and charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said Manqele.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon. - Supplied.
