VIP performers seek sponsorship

SEVEN performers from VIP Studios and various schools in the
Upper Highway Area have been selected as part of the South African team to compete in the World Championships of Performing Arts for 2016.

The competition was tough for the VIP pupils who had to compete against 3 000 from all around the country.

Samantha Dijkman participated in the 16-17 category and was awarded, (acting) a silver medal for the Dramatical section, which got her into the SA team, silver medal for the Open section – duologue, silver medal for the Classical section – duologue, silver medal for the Comical section – Trio and a silver medal for the Comedy section – Quartet.

Daniel Mackenzie also participated in the 16-17 category and was awarded (acting) a bronze medal for the Classical section, bronze medal for the Contemporary section, silver medal for the Dramatical section, which got him into the SA team and a silver medal for the Open section – duologue.

He also participated in vocal and was awarded a bronze medal for the Broadway section - Duo

Daniel made it to the Beyond2000 dance team.

Timothy Edley was in the 16-17 category and received a awards for acting. Bronze medal for the Comical section, gold medal for the Comical section - duologue - automatically in the SA team, bronze medal for the Dramatical section – duologue, silver medal for the Comical section – Quartet and a gold medal for the Open section - automatically in the SA team.

For vocals he was awarded a silver medal for the Open section, bronze medal for the Variety section, gold medal for the World section - automatically in the SA team, gold medal for the Pop section - Trio - automatically in the SA team, silver medal for the Broadway section, bronze medal for the Jazz section, gold medal for the Variety section - Trio - automatically in the SA team and a gold medal for the Variety section - Duo - automatically in the SA team.

Rachel Nel also in the 16-17 category for acting received a silver medal for the Comical section – Trio and a silver medal for the Comical section – Quartet.

For vocals she received a bronze medal for the Pop section, gold medal for the Pop section - Trio - automatically in the SA team, gold medal for the Variety section - Duo - automatically in the SA team, bronze medal for the Rock section, silver medal for the Rock section – Duo, gold medal for the Contemporary section - Duo - automatically in the SA team, silver medal for the Country section, silver medal .for the Jazz-R&b section and gold medal for the Variety section - Trio - automatically in the SA team.

Nel also made it to the Beyond2000 dance team

Jenna Maree participated in 13 - 15 year category for acting recived a silver medal for the Dramatical section - got her into the SA Team individually, silver medal for the Classical section – duologue, gold medal for the Comical section - duologue - automatically in the SA team, silver medal for the Comical section – trio, silver medal for the Comical section – quartet, bronze medal for the Comical section – duologue and bronze for the Dramatical section – duologue.

Bunthle Mhlungu participated in 16-17 category for acting was awarded bronze medal for the Comical section – duo and bronze medal for the Comical section - and made it to the Showcase.

For vocals Mhlungu received a bronze medal for the Rock section, gold medal for the Pop section - trio - automatically in the SA team, gold medal for the Variety section - trio - automatically in the SA team, silver medal for the Rock section, bronze medal for the Broadway section – Duo and gold medal for the Contemporary section - Duo - automatically in the SA team.

Shylo Pereira participated in 30+ years category and for acting received a gold medal for the Contemporary section and a gold medal for the Open section. In the vocals category she received a silver medal for the Broadway section, gold medal for the Jazz section and gold medal for the Original section and gold medal for the World section.

These participants are looking for sponsorship to participate in the world championships in Long Beach, Los Angeles. Each requires R100 000 to attend.
