HUNDREDS of guests attended the black-tie 11th Annual Sunflower Fund Charity Ball in association with IBV Gold on Friday, 26 May.

Guests were treated to KWV sparkling wine upon arrival at the Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani Hotel, where the high-profile event was held.

The Great Ilanga Room was decorated by Function Foundry and Flowers by Carey Symons and “Sunflowers” perfume sponsored by Elizabeth Arden was gifted to every woman.
East Coast radio presenter Jane Linley-Thomas was compère and the award-winning Durban Gospel Choir put on a show, complemented by Karen van Pletsen.

The Sunflower Fund Regional Manager, Stephanie Berry, delivered an encouraging speech that
paid tribute to The Sunflower Fund’s incredible journey of hope since its inception, which was brought to life in the Funds first awareness video, also premiered at the event.

Graeme Hawkins from Gold
Circle conducted a successful auction which raised just over R100 000, and prizes given away on the night included a set of Rayban Sunglasses and a weekend away trip for six people to Alpine Heath Resort.

The entertainment programme was put together by David Gouldie of Urban Edge Productions and Evan Roberts of Makulu Events and the sound, lighting and staging was sponsored by Black Coffee.

A big thank you to sponsors IBV Gold, 2Cana Solutions, TopMed Medical Scheme, Trellidor, Araujo Attorneys, Colour Glo International, The Smile Emporium, Fishwicks Printers, Function Foundry, Southern Sun, KWV, Elizabeth Arden,

Funds raised from the glamorous charity ball will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness as well as educate and recruit blood stem cell donors to increase the number of people registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry.

The more donors on the registry, means greater hope for patients who are diagnosed with chronic blood disorders and in need of a blood stem cell transplant from a matching donor.
