SLATER’S Toy Magic in Foutains Mall, Jeffreys Bay will be one of 70 stores across the country hosting a “Cupcakes of Hope” event on National Cupcake Day on Saturday, September 26.

The event, hosted by NPO Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, raises awareness about the early warning signs of childhood cancer and helps raise funds for children who are fighting this disease.

Last year’s event saw R1,2m being raised when 55 malls countrywide hosted the event.

Through the events, volunteers, sponsors and bakers share their love for baking for a good cause. The charity has assisted more than 300 patients and 15 other charities since its inception.

Funds go towards paying for medical treatments, travelling costs, school fees, birthday celebrations and day-to-day expenses.

Hospital visits are also conducted and patients and staff are given a sweet treat.

On the day, a donation of R10 per beautifully decorated cupcake will be collected.
