THE Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) will host their annual benefit auction at Mauro’s Italian Restaurant in Port St Francis at 17:30 on December 15 to raise funds for their seabird centre at Cape St Francis.

The annual event is a vital fundraising event in aid of SANCCOB’s year-round seabird conservation work and offers guests a chance to bid on spectacular prizes and unique getaway experience in aid of SANCCOB’s work.

Warren Manser will be the master of ceremonies and local folk-duo, Digby and the Lullaby, will provide the entertainment for the evening.

SANCCOB’s centre in Cape St. Francis offers a 24-hour, 365-day rescue service for seabirds and admits approximately 300 to 400 seabirds for rehabilitation every year.

The centre is currently caring for more than 150 abandoned African penguin chicks that will undergo rehabilitation this festive season. The importance of SANCCOB’s work was also highlighted when 92 oiled African penguins and 61 chicks were admitted to the centre following an oil spill in Algoa Bay in August this year.

Tickets cost R350 per person and include welcome drinks and a three-course gourmet meal paired with wines.

The dress code for the event is smart/ casual. Bookings can be made at www.sanccob.co.za/benefit-auction or at SANCCOB’s centre next to the Seal Point Lightouse in Cape St Frances. For more information, contact Louise Myburgh at 042 298 0160.
