KOUGA Municipality boosted its bush clearing and grass cutting capacity with the acquisition of new machinery.

In total 28 weed eaters, 11 chain saws and 16 Kudu lawnmowers were delivered on Monday last week to the Humansdorp Country Club. The equipment will be distributed to the responsible department’s work teams across Kouga.

Social Services Portfolio Councillor Thandeka Maseti says the equipment and machines would help speed up service delivery by improving the appearance of towns, clearing up open spaces and, in particular, overgrown erven which have proved to be a big challenge.

“Our old equipment could not keep up with the demand and had to go for repairs constantly. The arrival of the machinery now means more operators on the field and faster response times when it comes to complaints about overgrown areas,” says Maseti.

The total value of the equipment is R500 000.
