Burgemeester begin tweede termyn

SAM Vuso is vir die tweede agtereenvolgende termyn die burgemeester van die Koukamma-munisipaliteit nadat die ANC met 51,50% teenoor die DA se 44,34% in die afgelope munisipale verkiesing geseëvier het.

Vuso en elf raadslede is verlede Donderdag op die eerste vergadering van die Koukamma munisipale raad in die Kareedouw veeldoe-lige gemeenskapsentrum ingehuldig.

“Ek voel geëerd dat ek die geleentheid gegee het en verantwoordelikheid om die burgemeester en speaker van Koukamma-munisipaliteit te wees,” sê Vuso.

Hy het homself daartoe verbind om met al die raadslede, administrasie en die hele gemeenskap saam te werk om te verseker dat alle gebiede van Koukamma toegang tot ba-siese dienste het.

Vuso, wat ook die raad se speaker is, is in Maart verlede jaar in die landdroshof op Humansdorp gevonnis op ’n aanklag van dronkbestuur. Hy is ’n boete van R6 000 opgelê en sy lisensie is vir ses maande opgeskort. Hy is in 2012 op die dorp in hegtenis geneem en verlede maand skuldig bevind.

Die komiteevoorsitters is ook aangekondig:

  • Strategiese beplanning en plaaslike ekonomiese ontwikkeling – Fundiswa Herman
  • Tegniese en infrastruktuurdienste – Hettie Pullen
  • Sosiale en gemeenskapdienste – Graham Goliath
  • Begroting en tesourie (finansies) – Fuzile Yako
  • Korporatiewe Dienste – Jessie Plaatjies
