ON your marks . . . get set . . . build! . . . go!

Start your inventions; the popular Global Leadership Academy (GLA) Trolley Pro returns! Filled with half-ge-nius-half-ratchet trolley designs, the competition involves Kouga businesses and learners racing through the parking area at Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay in a unique non-motorised racing event.

Returning on Saturday, May 6, the GLA Trolley Pro combines a dash of Kouga ingenuity, some ‘dubious’ engineering and free-spirited design. Designs from the 2016 event included everything from a hamburger, a ship, a computer, and a camera, to a toilet roll.

With a challenging racetrack, the competition will see a total of 13 teams competing.

Some spots have already been grabbed at a cost of R5 500 each. The entry fee will ensure businesses’ participation in this year’s event, as well as cover all expenses related to trolley decoration done by the grade representing that specific enterprise.

Additional expenses like marketing T-shirts, gazebos and flags on the day of the race, is for the pocket of the sponsoring company.

The names of these companies will be announced in the Kouga Express of April 27, while the completed trollies will be exhibited at Fountains Mall from April 28 to May 5.

The public can then vote for their favourite trolley via an SMS competition line. The class of the winning trolley will receive a R1 000 voucher from Fountains Mall.

The results, as well as photos of the event, will be pu-blished in the Kouga Express of May 11.
