JANUARY, February, March, April, May, June, July . . .

Pure-bred or just pure love, your animal could be what the judges are looking for. Whether your four-legged friend - or even your scaly friend - is the most precious, the cutest or even the most unfortunate looking animal in the area, get those cameras clicking.

The SPCA in Humansdorp, in conjunction with the Kouga Express, is looking for the top 12 animals in the Kouga to grace their first-ever calendar for 2017.

A panel of judges will choose the winners at the end of the competition. The judges will also choose 10 wildcard entries and the public will have to vote for their favourite wildcard, who will make up the last two winners for their calender.

To enter, residents must upload their photo on our SPCA Calendar 2017 competition page, which can be found on our Facebook Page (Kouga Express Newspaper).

At the top of the page, click on the SPCA Calendar tab, which will take you to the entry form where you can upload your photo and details. No photos that are posted on our timeline or photos that are emailed to us will be accepted.

Businesses wanting to contribute financially towards the printing of the calendar, can contact Natassja Barnard at 082 437 1498 or acerconcell@gmail.com.

  • Only residents who live in Kouga may enter.
  • No group photos (more than one animal) are allowed.
  • Only online entries will be accepted (email photos do not qualify).
  • Only one photo per entrant will be allowed – choose your photo submission carefully. Once a photo has been submitted, it cannot be swopped for another photo. However, you may enter as many of your animals as you like: dog, cat, rabbit, horse, snake, cow, etc.
  • Photos must be full length – we need to see the complete animal.
  • Photos must be 1MB or bigger.

Entries are open and the competition ends at 20:00 on November 8.

All the photos received can be viewed under the SPCA Calendar 2017 competition on our Facebook page (Kouga Express Newspaper).

Note: If you are struggling to find the competition on your phone or tablet, open your internet browser (eg. Internet Explorer or Google Chrome), go to Facebook and request the desktop version (not the mobile version). You should now see the full page and can enter the competition. The competition page does not show on the Facebook app on your phone or tablet.

  • The SPCA is in desperate need of funds to settle their veterinary account of R38 000. Until their account is settled, treatment and spaying of animals will be strictly on a cash basis.
