FILLED with a need for speed?

Start your inventions; the infamous Global Leadership Academy (GLA) Trolley Pro returns! Filled with half-genius-half-ratchet trolley designs, the competition involves Kouga businesses and learners racing through the parking area at Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay in a unique non-motorised racing event.

Returning on Saturday, April 23, the GLA Trolley Pro is an event that combines a dash of Kouga ingenuity, some dubious engineering and free-spirited design. Designs from the 2015 event included everything from a cow, a hot air balloon, a computer, a train, and even a restaurant table.

With a challenging racetrack, the competition will see a total of 12 teams competing in the race.

Eleven spots have already been grabbed up at a cost of R5 000 each - leaving only one spot open. This entry will go to the highest bidder. To be in the running for this sought-after spot, send an email with your contact details and the prize you are willing to pay to event organiser Stefan Kleyn at stefan@gcex.org before noon on April 11.

According to Stefan Kleyn, event organiser, this is the year in which GLA moves over to their new school campus near Fountains Mall. “To usher in this new era for GLA, we are going all out with this year’s greatest Trolley Pro to date.

“We are nearing the final phase of construction, and all funds raised during this event will be channelled towards the project as we push towards completion of phase 1.”

The GLA Trolley Pro is presented in conjunction with Fountains Mall and Kouga Express.

The names of the participating companies will be announced in the Kouga Express of April 14, while the completed trollies will be exhibited at Fountains Mall from April 18 to 23. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite trolley via a SMS competition line. The class of the winning trolley will receive a R2 000 voucher from Fountains Mall.

The results, as well as photos of the event, will be published in the Kouga Express of April 28.

For more information, contact Stefan Kleyn from GLA at 042 293 3053 or send an email to stefan@gcex.org.
