Go bald or colourful this Saturday

2016-03-03 06:00

SHAVE. Spray. Donate.

The Kouga Express team will swop their notebooks and pens for spray cans and shavers this weekend. Instead of selling advertisements or looking for the next big story, they will be transforming residents’ hair into an artwork of colour or a bald masterpiece - all in aid of a good cause.

The third annual Kouga Express Cansa Shavathon will take over Fountains Mall this Saturday. Residents and visitors keen to show their support for this fun-filled, yet meaningful event, can venture down to the promotion court in front of Pick ’n Pay from 10:00 on March 5 where the Kouga Express team in conjunction with Fountains Mall, Beautique Salon and Cansa Jeffreys Bay, will be waiting to shave, cut or spray their hair a multitude of colours.

All it will cost participants are a few minutes of their time and a few Rands out of their wallets.

Ponytails of 25cm in length or longer will go towards making wigs for cancer patients in need. Hair in a pony tail can also be donated before the event.

“Fountains Mall has a long relationship with the Jeffreys Bay Cansa branch and March is Cansa month at Fountains Mall,” says Fountains Mall Marketing Manager Nadine Scheepers.

“We do not just support the Shavathon, but also host the Relay for Life set to take place on March 11 this year. Both events create awareness and an opportunity for the whole community to participate in the fight against cancer.”

Last year a whopping R6 650 was raised on the day and it is hoped that over R8 000 will be raised this year.

Financial donations beforehand are also more than welcome. Donations can be made to Absa Bank, Cansa SA, account number 115 714 0058, reference Shavathon 2016 Jbay. Kindly email a copy of the donation slip to Monique.Basson@media24.com or fax it to 042 293 3957.

All funds raised will go towards research to help find a cure for cancer, as well as to assist cancer patients in financial need.
