2017-06-01 06:01

WIKI Wiki Wa Wa . . . do you have what it takes to become the best DJ in South Africa?

Then do not delay, polish up on your DJ skills and enter the biennial Viceroy 5 Makoya Mix DJ search for 2017.

For the first time ever, the national event will take Jeffreys Bay by storm at Club Beachfront in Pellsrus from 17:00 on June 10.

At its core, the Viceroy 5 Makoya Mix DJ search is a campaign created to find the best of the grassroot DJs in the country - the person that lights up the clubs every weekend and entertains party-goers.

The campaign consists of 32 recruitment events, where aspiring DJs are profiled by the Makoya Mix mentors DJ Christos, DJ Naked and DJ Tira. DJ Naked will screen entrants in Jeffreys Bay.

The registration and screening starts at 17:00. Entrants must create their own five minute mix, which includes the Viceroy Pulse Tune.

Only three to five entrants will be left to compete against one another from 21:00 that evening. Each entrant will be allocated five minutes to play a set.

The winner will be selected on song selection and mixability, crowd interaction and response, and showmanship.

Only one DJ from each event will progress to one of five regional finals. From there, five winners will move on to the national finals.

The overall winner will be crowned the Viceroy 5 Makoya Champion. The winner will furthermore receive a record deal and DJ equipment valued at R120 000 sponsored by Viceroy.

For more information with regard to the Viceroy 5 Makoya Mix DJ search, contact Ian Rockman from Club Beachfront at 083 995 7711.
