Local angling club excels during 2016/17 fishing season

MEMBERS of the Cape St Francis Angling Club, boasting provincial and Protea anglers, reeled in medals and several spots in the Eastern Province Shore Angling (EPSA) tournaments during the 2016/17 competition season.

Top-anglers Gavin O’Moore and Noel Skinner were named the 2016/ 17 Grandmaster Champions. They were also placed in the top three in the individual fishing championships.

Alan Prinsloo, together with O’Moore and Skinner, was selected to represent EPSA in the South African Grandmaster Championships in Jeffreys Bay during November this year. Anton Botes is the team reserve, while Linda Botes was selected to represent the EPSA Ladies Team.

Not stopping there, O’Moore, Skinner, Prins loo and Eddie Rudman secured bronze medals in the Masters Division.

Avid angler Henk Visser will showcase his angling skills as angler and Team Manager of the EPSA Triangular Team during their tournament at the Hole in the Wall in October this year.

Joining Visser, is team member Rudman and team reserve Deon Verster.

Local angler Dewald Kapp will lead the EPSA Dusky Team to compete in East London in March 2018.

Gerhard Coetzee was selected as reserve for the under 21 team, while Theo Herbst will captain the Triangular Team and represent the prestigious Senior A Team.

These anglers are members of the Eastern Province Shore Angling. They have the passion and commitment that all catches are returned to the water to fight another day.
