St Francis Bay local, Amica de Jager, was named one of the best competitive lifesavers in South Africa.

De Jager, from the Woodridge Surf Lifesa-ving Club of Main Beach, St Francis Bay, was selected to represent SA at the prestigious Orange Cup in the Netherlands in November this year.

De Jager is also a member of the South African National Junior Lifesaving Team which departs next week to compete at the Lifesa-ving World Championships in September (also in the Netherlands).

The last Woodridge Surf lifesaver to represent their club and the Kouga area was local resident Haydn Holmes of Liquid Lines, Seal Point. In the 1990’s, Holmes represented South Africa in both pool and surf lifesaving and also attended the World Lifesaving Championships. Keeping it ‘all in the family’, Holmes is De Jager’s coach in both still water and surf.

Kouga can be very proud of this young lady who is also the grade 11 Dux student in her grade at Woodridge College.
