Locals to represent NMBS Grom Team

2017-03-09 11:47

NO fewer than 12 local surfers were selected to represent the 17-man strong Nelson Mandela Bay Surf Riders (NMBS) at the 2017 Surfing South Africa and Billabong SA Grom Games.

The team is one of two districts representing the Eastern Cape in the SA Grom Games.

Over 120 surfers, representing nine provinces, will compete in the 25th Billabong African Grommet Games at Pollock Beach in Port Elizabeth from March 18 to 21. The youngest surfers will compete in the U.8 division, with the oldest participants taking part in the competitive U.16 boys and girls’ groups.

While surfing is the main focus, other events like the paddle battle, beach flags and a tag team surfing competition are included, not only to help promote surfing as a healthy lifestyle, but also teach the groms that team-work is important.
