TOP Jeffreys Bay surfer, Ryan Lightfoot representing the Eastern Province Surfing Team, took top honours in the u.16 Boys category at the SA Longboarding Championships that were held at Bay of Plenty in Durban from April 24 to 30 - claiming his third longboarding title in a row.

Adding to the victory, Jeffreys Bay surfers Steven Sawyer (Open Men) and Coert Venter (u.18 Boys) were placed third and fourth respectively. Also from Jeffreys Bay, Kelly Medley (u.16 Girls) and Zoë Smith (u.18 Girls) secured a fourth place in their divisions.

The team, consisting of 12 surfers, claimed the third overall place in unfavourable condition as the onshore blew quite strong for most of the time. Despite the bad waves and weather, the competitors did their best to impress the judges, as well as the crowd and up a good show with epic turns and serious nose rides.
