THE newly established Ocean View Stars soccer team in Jeffreys Bay, under the guidance of former soccer player Mike Mapu, now sports brand-new kits and soccer balls.

All thanks to Tampa Bay Spur and Spur Head Office as part of their soccer and life skills training programme, Masidlale.

There are currently over 20 players aged between 11 and 15 - all of whom are underprivileged.

“I cannot thank Spur and the community at large for their wonderful support,” says Mapu. “Without them the success of this team will not be possible.”

According to Mapu, he hopes to soon take the team to Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas to play soccer matches there.

“I started the soccer team at the end of last year in order to install some values and discipline among the local youth,” says Mapu.

There is already a significant difference in their attitude towards school and society as a whole.”

The team practises at the soccer field in Pellsrus, Jeffreys Bay from Mondays to Thursdays.

For more information or to assist the soccer team, contact Mapu at 063 471 5909.
