Thyspunt nuclear power station EIR available for comment

THE final Environmental Impact Assessment Report on the proposed nuclear power station and associated infrastructure at Thyspunt will be available for public review and comment from tomorrow.

This report is available for 60 days only, until May 12 this year, and can be viewed at:

  • Humansdorp Public Library
  • Jeffreys Bay Public Library
  • Kareedouw Public Library
  • Kruisfontein Public Library
  • Oesterbaai Eiendomme
  • Sea Vista Clinic
  • GIBB Port Elizabeth Office
  • St Francis Bay Public Library
  • St Francis Bay Municipal Office.

The final EIR is also available at http://www.eskom.co.za/OurCompany/SustainableDevelopment/EnvironmentalImpactAssessment/Pages/Nuclear_1_EIA_Documentation.aspx or http://project.gibb.co.za/NUCLEAR_1_-_Final_EIR.

Comments must be submitted in writing to Wayne Hector at the Department of Environmental Affairs. Comments can either be mailed to Private Bag X447, Pretoria, 0001 or emailed to whector@environment@gov.za.

Comments must also be copied to the Environmental Assessment Practitioner. It can either be mailed to GIBB Public Participation Office, Nuclear-1 EIA, PO Box 35007, Menlo Park, 0102 or emailed to nuclear1@gibb.co.za.
