BROOKSIDE Mall gave budding young artists a chance to use their creative abilities to win some amazing prize money for their school at the Live Kids Art Competition which took place at the centre on 3 October.

Six local schools entered their best art students from Grades 1, 2 and 3 to stake their claim for the prizes which were up for grabs. There were a number of prizes for each grade, but the grand prize of R8 000 attracted the attention of pupils, teachers and shoppers.

Exclusive Creativity sponsored a spot prize, which was won by a young artist from Athlone Primary School. However, St John’s Primary School emerged the overall victor, winning the R8 000.

“We were delighted in being placed as the overall winners,” said St. Johns Grade 2 teacher, Cindy Stretch.

“I would like to congratulate the organisers of the Art Competition at Brookside Mall for a wonderful, fun-filled morning. There was such a welcoming atmosphere and the excitement was palpable. It was a pleasure to participate in the competition and I hope it will become an annual event,” said Stretch.

The day was filled with excitement, colour and fun, and each of the competitors was granted free access into the children’s entertainment area as a reward for their hard work.

Brookside Mall extends a big thank you to the participating schools and their pupils for their involvement in making the competition such an outstanding success.
