Comments are a contradiction

2015-09-09 06:00

THE article titled “Service delivery - ‘Comrades Syndrome’ ” in Fever 26 August refers.

The comments by Ningi Zungu makes laughable reading.

May I remind Cllr Zungu, who claims to be Christian on the one hand, and then accuses “certain opposition parties of promoting racism and white ‘imperialism’ ”, is a contradiction in itself.

The “white colonial imperialists” used conversions to Christianity as a means of promoting their “Anglo-Saxon” way of life among the people whom they conquered in order to achieve compliance and subservience in their overall plan of “divide and rule”. (Cecil John Rhodes)

Missionaries paid by imperial governments came to proselitise indigenous communities to convert and make it easier to achieve their overall plans. It was difficult to achieve compliance otherwise.

So, Cllr Zungu, critising “white imperialists” who made you Christian in the first place, and then talking about “white imperialism” is a contradiction.

This “divide and rule” is being used by American imperialists in this very day and age. Just look at what’s happening in the Middle East.
