‘Meaty’ donation for daily court children

2015-09-30 06:00

MNDENI Meats embarked on a project to feed the children that arrive at the local magistrate’s court in Pietermaritzburg every day.

Mark Lederle from Mndeni said about 15 children a day arrive at the court - either as witnesses, children in custody battles or abused children.

“A lot come from rural areas and do not have any food and the like,” he said.

Lederle said they were approached by a court clerk who asked the store to donate food for the children every day.

“We felt it would be really worthwhile, so we agreed and give some every day. Somebody from the court collects the goods and they do everything from then on,” said Lederle.

The store also donates to local charities, schools, departments and homes
