Royal Show need to know

2015-05-27 06:00

THE Royal Agricultural Show, which runs from 29 to 7 June, is the largest mixed show in Africa.

In addition to showcasing the nation’s best livestock, the event at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg also features stands by tractor and implement manufacturers, and the province’s largest display of construction and materials handling equipment.

In the halls around the grounds there are 400 commercial, industrial and service sector exhibits and a hall dedicated to food.

In a change to previous years there will be no Ukhozi concert on the final Sunday. Instead the showgrounds will host a classical music concert in the morning and Afrikaans performers at the RSG Concert in the afternoon.

Visitors can enjoy plenty of other music and attractions, including a 60-metre zip-line, courtesy of Karkloof Canopy Tours, a schools’ mountain bike challenge and the province’s largest fun fair.

Entry is R55 (R35 for children under 12 and pensioners). On Wednesday, 3 June entry is R35 for everyone
