MUSIC lovers are in for a treat as musicians of all genres descend on Alexandra Park on Saturday from 10am for the Themba Njilo Music Festival.

Big screens will be erected to enable festival-goers to watch the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at the event.

Themba Njilo marketing manager Thula Mhlophe said they promise a Saturday to remember.

“We invite people to come in their numbers as a host of artists will be performing. Music of all genres - kwaito, mbhaqanga and gospel - will keep everyone entertained.

“The aim behind the concert is to raise funds for programmes under the Themba Njilo Foundation.

“The funds will help to run various programmes because the foundation is not funded, so basically we are trying to raise funds for the foundation so that it functions accordingly,” said Mhlophe.

The festival is sponsored by the Themba Njilo Foundation, Echo, UHologo Productions and others.

Artists at the festival include Ndoda Maphumulo, Nathi and Nkanyiso, Durban Nyts, Mvuselelo Buthelezi, Nelly kaDlamini, Dumi Mkokstad, Mthokozisi Zakwe, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Njabulo Mkhize, Abasindisi, Gah Ndlela, Melusi Ndimade, Tzozo, Thobekile, Bethusile Mcinga, Sgwili, Afro Soul, Thokozani Langa, Bahubhe, Abazala, and deejays Merlon, Happy Girl, Sox, Nzwiri, Mondli Ngcobo, T-Roxta and Invaders.

Gates open at 10am.

Tickets are R100 from Computicket and R120 at the door.
