‘Willing buyer, willing seller’ to go

2015-10-15 06:00

THE ANC has reaffirmed its intention of replacing the “willing buyer, willing seller” land redistribution policy.

“There was a strong call for the removal of willing buyer as a policy [in 2005] … and [at] subsequent ANC conferences in 2007 and 2012 that matter came up sharply again,” ANC national executive committee member Thoko Didiza told reporters.

She was speaking on Sunday at a briefing held on the sidelines of the party’s national general council in Midrand, Johannesburg.

She said that the Property Valuation Act of 2014, introduced by the Department of Land and Rural Development, will replace the current policy, allowing government to regulate valuations.
