YOUNG Natalians have continued their magic run this season winning 11 of their 12 games and have become the National Futsal League champions the second time and are still the only KwaZulu-Natal team to do so.

The team has a good balance of young and experienced players. Simpiwe Mgedezi, Trevino Pillay, Thobani Buthelezi and Ace Dlamini were part of the winning team in 2005 and are still players 10 years later. Trey Nair (16) is the youngest player to win the NFL and coach Gregory Nair has now won it as a player and coach.

The team scored 75 goals, conceded 27 and has a goal difference of +48. Renaldo Donelly is the highest goal scorer in the league with 25 goals and teammate Sedwyn George scored 17.

“Our solid defence is played by captain and national team player, Simphiwe Mgedezi and Ace Dlamini with the reliable and best goal keeper in the league, Trevino Pillay. It’s been a great season. We worked hard throughout the season and what you put in is what you get out. The guys were extremely disciplined and focused and displayed great passion in training, and in our games,” said Nair.

The team are now preparing for the knockout tournament on 27 and 28 June. - Supplied

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
