TRUE education is one that produces responsible intelligent pupils who are ready to take a lead in the society in future.

This is one of the founding principles of the Thornhill Christian College at 140 Langalibalele Street in Pietermaritzburg. The college run by a board of directors, who have years of experience in the field of education and who strongly believe there should be a balance between doing well in academic studies and being a responsible individual.

“We are not just about striving towards academic excellence, what we want is to nurture pupils with values such as punctuality and accountability so they grow up to be responsible citizens,” said Chief Executive Officer, Professor ML Makondo.

With institutions emerging everywhere, the professor encourages parents of prospective pupils not be afraid to visit the school and see for themselves that Thornhill Christian College is built on sound academic principles and is registered with the Department of Education (EMIS number 500504310).

The college offers tuition to Grade RRR to Grade 12. Grade 10-12 pupils have a choice of subjects from English home language, Zulu and Afrikaans first additional languages, mathematics, mathematical literacy, physical sciences, life sciences, agricultural sciences, economics, accounting, business studies, history, geography, tourism, dramatic arts, life orientation and Bible studies.

In addition, the college offers co-curricular activities in swimming, netball, soccer, volleyball, athletics and clubs. Also, all pupils do Bible studies and from 2017 will be doing computers.

We also offer furnished science laboratory to enhance academic comprehension of science students thereby preparing them for academic success.

The college subscribes to good governance and corporate ethos and has a board of directors, college governing board and a college management team, who see that the institution lives up to its founding principles.

The college management team is made up of the principal Mrs E. Kuali, and three deputy principals, Mr T. Mudumo (student and corporate affairs), Mr NH Mutsvangwa (curriculum) and Mrs N. Mshengu (primary and nursery). Furthermore, the college appoints only properly qualified, experienced God-fearing teachers who are mandated to provide the best teaching to the young minds.

“Our motto is investing in the present for the future of humanity and we believe that through the teachers we have the results of what we do today at Thornhill Christian College will be visible in the future,” said the CEO.

Registration for 2017 Grades RRR-11 is now open and closes on 18 September. This will be followed with entrance tests for prospective Grades 4-11 pupils to be done on 5 October at the college. The college is open Sunday to Friday.
