ANTHONY Stonier will be performing at the Hexagon Dive at the Pietermaritzburg University of KwaZulu-Natal on 12 and 13 February at 7.30pm.

He was one of the most prolific writers and lyricists of the 20th century. Alan Jay Lerner wrote the book and lyrics to many of the world’s best loved musicals, My Fair Lady, Camelot, Gigi, Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon and On A Clear Day You Can See Forever.

Stonier sings hits from these and other hit musicals with Evan Roberts at the piano as musical director, celebrating the beauty and style of a master wordsmith.

Following the success at The Dive in 2015 of his last one-man show, The Sound of His MusicRichard Rodgers, Stonier is delighted to be back in Pietermaritzburg with this new two-man production.

He has been a part of the KZN and national theatre industry for 28 years. He has been involved in numerous productions over the years in capacities ranging from actor, singer to pianist to composer. He won a Vita award in 1989 for Frank ‘n Stein and has since won two Durban Theatre Awards for Best Male Vocalist in 2003 and 2007.

The call of the stage, lights, sound and performance has long been a core part of award-winning musician and musical director Roberts’s life. A self-taught musician, Roberts has played the piano since age four. He has won numerous awards for his work on and behind the stage, including several Theatre Awards for performance and musical direction.

He was also nominated for a Naledi award for musical direction for his work on the musical Cabaret, which toured SA to critical acclaim. Roberts has achieved significant success both on stage and in the corporate world with his events company Makulu Events, building a reputation for top quality productions and corporate events.

Bookings are welcomed for 10-seater tables. Tickets are R120 each. People can bring food, but no drinks will be allowed. There will also be a cash bar.
