HILTON police are appealing to the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of Siyabonga Rodgers Cele.

The 33-year-old from Sweetwaters was arrested with three other accused in 2006 for armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and theft of firearm. The crime was committed in May 2006.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the four accused were found guilty on January 18, by the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court.

“The magistrate decided to extend their bail until they were sentenced accordingly on March 13, but Cele failed to appear before the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court for sentencing. A warrant for his arrest was issued after several adjournments to allow him to appear.”

Gwala said anyone with information regarding Cele’s whereabouts can contact Detective Constable T Nxele on 033 845 6520 or 072 108 1738. Alternatively contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111. - Supplied.
