A NEW ballet performance, A Bouquet of Dance, is being presented by the Royal Academy of Dance (Rad) KwaZulu-Natal, at the Hilton College Theatre at 2pm on August 12.

The showcase honours the memory of Denise Caro, a much-loved personality of the ballet world, who died on March 14.

Caro was a dancer, teacher and examiner­, who influenced the lives of thousands of dancers during her lifetime.

She will long be remembered with love and appreciation for her unswerving devotion to the Royal Academy of Dance which she served throughout her life.

Rad teachers taking part in the production include, Betty Blake, Bonnie­ Hayman, Brenda McLachlan, Cornelia Puler, Domaine Keyser, Gail Smith, Heather Proctor, Jacqui Weddell, Jenny Walter-Girout, Mary Ann Salvage, Rhalda Bowring, Robin van Wyk, Sheila Davidson, Sue Cook, Susan Cleary, Taryn Leppan, Taryn Makaab, and Tertia Ferreira.

Rad is one of the world’s most influential dance education and professional membership organisations. It sets global standards for exams in classical ballet, teacher training and continuing professional development for dance.

Founded in 1920 to set standards for dance teaching in the United Kingdom, today Rad has a presence in 83 countries, with 36 offices and more than 14 000 members worldwide.

Rad’s patron is Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
