AMAZULU coach Steve Barker has hailed the impact of new signing, Siyabonga “Bhele” Nomvete both on and off the field for the club.

Nomvete has already netted twice for Usuthu in as many games, including against his former side Moroka Swallows in a 2-1 victory for the Durban-based outfit on Saturday.

The 38-year-old is the Premier Soccer League’s all-time leading scorer with 119 goals, while he earned 82 caps for Bafana Bafana among other achievements in a career that started at African Warriors in the 1997/98 season.

“Bhele brings goals, goals and goals. Look, the two goals he scored in two games is a big plus for us,” Barker told AmaZulu’s website.

“He’s experienced you know, you can see in the last 10 to 15 minutes, he held the ball and won a couple of free-kicks for us.

“Off the field, he’s huge for the club.

“Young players sit next to him and in the change room - they look at his achievements and he’s an inspiration on and off the field.

“He’s got the qualities of a top striker and there’s a goal he scored but it was deemed offside.

“The way he took it shows his quality.”
