THE Housewives Market in Mkondeni started with a small butchery. Since then it has grown and expanded to an extensive butchery with a hot deli and a fruit and vegetable section making it a one-stop-shop for customers.

Speaking to Maritzburg Fever, Leeanne Kingham said the store has grown from strength to strength and with the new revamp and rebrand, received rave reviews from customers about the increased space-to-shop and convenience.

“The revamp was desperately needed. It looked run down and in need of attention. It’s a great change and satisfies our customer, and we constantly receive compliments from the customer,” she said.

Store manager, Quinton Barnard, has 21 years’ experience in the retail industry, and said the open environment the store has created with its customers gives it a personal touch allowing staff and management to spend time with customers and get to know them.

One of the oldest employees at the store, Dick Smout, said that every day is good at the store with smiles from the staff and customers.

“This is where the action is. The store is progressive, the prices are good and customer volumes high. We pride ourselves in the store and enjoy what we do,” he said.
