UNDER the management of Cecilia Bestbier and shareholder Mark Lederle, BMS in Victoria Road, which also supplies the Market Road outlet, has grown in leaps and bounds and has, over the years, become the main production hub of the business producing their own products.

“The products we make consist of a standard range, as well as custom developed products for particular palates and customers’ needs. Polony, cold meats, hams, smoked and cooked sausages and bacon products are among the extensive product range we supply,” said Lederle.

Management and staff are committed to the highest level of food safety and quality possible. At BMS Victoria Road the ultra-modern Cozzini continuous emulsification system is used for the production of polony, viennas and IQF sausages.

“We use a blend of technology and traditional methods of manufacturing for our wide range of meat products,” said Lederle.

BMS Pietermaritzburg only source meat and products from the most established, accredited and reputable suppliers. “We know where we are buying from so the people of PMB can buy from us with confidence,” he said.

Bestbier said over the years the store has grown and required expansion.

“As we’ve grown, we’ve bought different properties and expanded quite a bit since the store opened. We had our bakery in-store, which supplied customers with freshly baked bread, rolls and buns, however, we have moved the bakery to Greyling Street, which has bigger space,” she said.

Speaking on the rebranding, Bestbier said customers have remained loyal to the store regardless of the name change.

“Some people were confused in the beginning as to why we were changing, but that didn’t stop them from supporting the store. With the change we were able to modernise the store-front making it less cluttered for customers and giving them a better shopping experience. We are proud to be the butcher of choice to the people in the City of Choice.”

Customer feedback

BMS management are committed to giving customers the best, freshest quality products.

“If there is something wrong, we want to know directly. Come to us and let us know so we can address the situation and ensure that it never happens again. We want to hear from you,” said Lederle.
