THE inaugural Christmas Care Project was held last Friday night at God’s Family Life Centre Tabernacle with people from Pietermaritzburg getting into the Christmas spirit at the “Carols by Candlelight” event.

Visitors were treated to music by the Salvation Army Brass Band as well as African In Praise, led by Grammy- award winner, Lucas Bok.

The event was free with the Christmas Care Project committee requesting donations of toys or non-perishable items in aid of Mama Ntombis Community Projects (MNCP), which looks after people living in informal settlements around the city.

The aim of the event was to bring churches and their congregations in the town together to share in the Christmas spirit.

The Christmas Care Project was a great success with numerous business owners in Pietermaritzburg coming on board and helping to raise food items, money or toys for those less fortunate in the city.

All items were handed over to Sandra Pillay from MNCP, who will distribute the items to the families in need this festive season.
