BORN and bred in Northdale, Denelle Ince (21) is a Miss UniWorld SA 2017 finalist.

Ince, a Hoty Modelling Agency in Scottsville ambassador, is one of 16 finalists who will be competing for the title of Miss UniWorld SA 2017 to be held at the Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom in Durban on 23 September.

Ince was chosen in March after she applied and submitted a motivational letter.

Speaking to Maritzburg Fever Ince said she knew there would be many applications, but was confident she would stand out from the rest.

“I started modelling at the age of 12 and I love the thrill of being on stage and the exhilarating rush of walking down a runaway.

“Modelling is much more to me than just my heart-felt passion.

“Being a finalist for Miss UniWorld is an honour, especially representing my home town on a national platform.

“It provides a huge platform for me to display my compassionate soul and will help me in not just bringing change to my community, but possibly reaching the country at large.

“I am so excited I was chosen to begin this journey. I could not believe when I got a call telling me I have been chosen for the semi-finals.”

She said she is not doing this for herself only, she is doing it for Pietermaritzburg.

“I am doing this for my city. People look at Pietermaritzburg as just a ‘sleepy hollow’, but I want to prove that it holds people of excellence [with] raw and pure talent.

“Even though I am performing on a national platform I want it to be known that I come from Pietermaritzburg, a small-town girl, from a small town with big dreams that she is fulfilling through God’s grace and favour.”

Ince has won a number of titles, including Saree Queen 2012, Miss Teen PMB 2013, Charity Saree Queen 2013, second princess, Miss India SA International 2016, among others.

Tickets for this pageant will be released in August, available from Computicket.
