JESMOND Dene Craft and Farmers Market returns on Saturday, September 9 at Beanbag Café, 204 Murray Road, Hayfields from 9am until 1pm.

Nicole Ludewig, the organiser, said they want people to realise their “favourite” market is back.

“People think there is nothing happening [market-wise] because it has been quite for a while [since the last one]. This market was well known and big and we want it to return to that.

“Since bringing back the market it has generated a lot of attention and has grown quickly. We now have 37 signed-up stalls and hope it becomes like the old Pietermaritzburg markets that used to attract visitors from afar. This is a very family orientated market and everyone is welcome.”

Crafters and food stalls are welcome on condition they produce fresh and good quality items.

“We encourage people in this area [Hayfields] to start something like this and not sit at home and do nothing and say they are unemployed. There are opportunities out there. We started with only 14 stalls and we have grown,” she said.
