PIETERMARITZBURG house deejay, Linda Mngadi, will officially be opening a deejay academy.

Mngadi, who has been in the industry for 20 years, said after seeing the lack of proper skills in the deejay industry in the city he decided to open Big Fun DJ Academy.

“This academy will focus on teaching the true art of beat mixing on turntables and CDJs.

“There will only be a limited number of people accepted because we are going to have one-on-one sessions.”

Mngadi is opening the academy in conjunction with his friend and former DJ, Fano Gumede of Fanotainment.

Gumede was one of the organisers of a music conference that was held in Pietermaritzburg in June.

Mngadi said the academy currently accepts anyone who wants to register.

“Ladies and gents of any age can join.

“This is going to be a two-month course that will also include a crash course on events co-ordinating, and how to handle yourself as a professional DJ,” he said.

The course starts in the first weekend of October at Imbali Unit J, house number 1026. Registration is now open.
