DoH to purchase TB hospital?

2017-08-30 06:00

THE Department of Health is considering buying the Doris Goodwin TB Hospital in Edendale.

This is according to the Democratic Alliance’s spokesperson of health, Dr Imran Keeka, who said this was one of the several findings made by the party during an oversight visit by the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature on August 15 and
August 16 at some public health-care
facilities.

“Related to this is the decision on whether to nationalise all district TB services at one site.

“Bed occupancies at this TB facility are at 65%, which seems less than cost-effective,” Keeka said in a statement.

The DoH had not responded to questions about this matter at the time of going to press. - Supplied.
