Fotag submissions to close soon

2017-10-11 06:01

ARTISTS wanting to submit paintings, drawings and other work to the Friends of the Tatham Art Gallery’s (Fotag) Fabulous Picture Show have until October 14 to do so.

All proceeds from this annual exhibition and auction go to help the gallery in Chief Albert Luthuli Street buy new pieces for its permanent collection.

Artists can donate up to three original, unframed works. Signed, editioned, original digital prints are welcome, but not prints of existing originals.

Boards and canvases are restricted to a maximum standard A4 only (21cm by 29.7cm) and with works on paper, the image should be no bigger than 13cm by 21.7cm to allow for mounting and framing.

3D works are welcome, but the size should not to exceed A4 dimensions. All two dimensional pieces will be framed by Fotag and hung by gallery staff.

The Fabulous Picture Show exhibition will open on the afternoon of November 12 and this year the viewing period extends over 11 days. Viewing times are from 9am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

All the works will also be loaded on to the Fotag website.

Bidding sheets will be placed next to the works for the last two days - Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 - to allow for silent bidding from 10am to 4pm.

The auction itself will take place from 6pm on Friday, November 24, when all art works will be sold.

There is a reserve price of R250 on every art work and the auction is silent up to R800, after which works will be sold by live auction.

Should you be unable to attend, proxy bids can be arranged.

Artists will be offered first option should their art works not be sold at the auction.

Gallery staff will accept work on Tuesday, October 10 from 2pm to 4pm and on Saturday, October 14 from 9am to 2pm.

Inquiries: email bryony.clark@msunduzi.gov.za or phone 033 392 2825 (mornings only).

Please note: acceptance of art work is at the discretion of the Fotag committee. - Supplied.
