THE PMB High Schools Football Association Cup kicks off this week, with ML Sultan Secondary and Haythorne Secondary determined to defend their boys and girls titles respectively.

Michael Dibben, the association chairman, confirmed that all is set for another exciting tournament.

“The FA Cup has become the highlight of the football calendar for schools in PMB. The fact that this year’s tournament will feature 18 boys teams and 14 girls teams shows the value of the of the tournament to the schools participating.

“It’s also where old derbies are renewed and new rivalries are formed.

“For example, last year Maritzburg College was pitted against ML Sultan and these teams don’t normally play each other, in fact it might have been the first ever match between the schools.”
