House robbery suspect arrested

2017-08-23 06:01

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in the early hours of Monday after he broke into a Oribi Village house.

Alexander Road Police spokesperson Captain Kholeka Mhlongo said the complainant was asleep in her house when she heard noises.

The perpetrator gained entry by forcing the bedroom window open.

“The victim woke up and was confronted by the suspect in her bedroom. She screamed and a struggle ensued between her and a suspect, which led to the suspect stabbing her in the right arm.

“The complainant’s son, who was asleep in another room, heard the commotion and came to his mother’s rescue. The son managed to wrestle with the suspect and apprehended him [suspect],” said Mhlongo.

The man was handed over to the police who recovered the complainant’s cellphone that was in his possession.

The man was due to appear in court yesterday (Tuesday). The outcome of the case was not received at the time of going to press. - Supplied.
