IN his first visit to Pietermaritzburg, Idols SA judge, and entertainer Somizi Mhlongo is to host the official launch of Intulo Lifestyle in Sweetwaters on 26 November.

This was confirmed by Fano Gumede of Fanotainment, one of the organisers spearheading the launch.

“We were looking for a celebrity, who has not been to Pietermaritzburg before, but who is in demand and has a huge following. Somizi for us was the perfect candidate - he is a celebrity who is liked by many.”

Intulo Lifestyle is an upmarket lounge inclusive of a Shisanyama, car wash, hair salon and restaurant.

It is owned by local businessman Max Dhladla.

Dhladla said as opposed to the average Shisanyama, Intulo is family-accommodating. They cater for a range of functions and have plans of expanding it to cater for weddings in the future.

“We are opening this spot so people don’t have to drive to town for entertainment. The place will be the next talk of the town and will put Sweetwaters on the map.

“Our main aim was to eradicate poverty by creating employment opportunities for the youth in the community and assist in the recreational development of the area.”

Also expected to grace the launch is American soul-jazz-infused house music vocalist, Monique Bingham.

Bingham is known for her 2012 collaboration Take Me to My Love with Ralf Gum, which became a hit.

She recently collaborated with Black Coffee for his hit single Deep.

The line-up of artists to perform at the launch, in conjunction with Impi 2016, includes international deejays Frank Roger and Rocco.

Some of SA’s well-known acts who will be sharing the stage include Witness the Funk (WTF), deejays Christos, Lady Sakhe, Vumar, Junior Da Rocker, Le Soul, Sonic, Sdakhx, Linda and Lucino.

Three winners from the Impi 2016 talent search auditions, to be crowned on 25 November, will also form part of the lineup.

Gates open at 10am. Tickets from Computicket at R100 and R250 VIP. Tickets at the venue will be R120. For table bookings contact Buhle on 072 151 7358 or Fano Gumede on 083 499 4122.
