Kudos to city hospital’s great staff

RECENTLY, while admitted to Pietermaritzburg Mediclinic, I was amazed by the major advancements and changes that have been initiated by Dr Jai Ramnath and his team.

The critical care unit has expanded to take care of the medical needs of our community in our own backyard and in my opinion will eventually reach out to parts of southern Africa, if required.

Free Wi-Fi is available not only to patients, but visitors as well. Patients and their families can keep in touch with each other.

Heading the cardiac surgery is none other than Dr James Fulton, the master thoracic surgeon, and his team. Lying in cardiac ICU, I would often notice Fulton in the late hours of the night and wee hours of the morning, pacing ICU, ready to make a clinical, analytical and tactical decision to save a critically ill patient from the “jaws of death”.

Fulton’s patience and friendly disposition with his patients are enormous. Thank God, doctors and nursing staff, for the new lease of life.

To the brilliant dedicated men and women in our City of Choice, thank you for choosing to save lives.

In conclusion, I wish to thank Ramnath for checking on my progress daily. Bravo guys, I am proud of you.
