THE National SAPS Bodybuilding Championships for 2017 were held at the SAPS Bishop Lavis Academy where the KZN SAPS excelled.

Fifteen officers from across KZN, coached by Captain Vees Dhayaram from Loop Street Police Station in Pietermaritzburg, flexed their muscles and eight were selected to represent KZN at the South African Bodybuilding Championship in Gauteng on September 2.

Dhayaram said he is pleased his team dominated most categories with Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Xaba, Constable Arnold Pather and Sergeant Travor Alexander winning gold in their respective categories.

“As a coach I am very proud. All the hard work has paid off. It’s been an exciting season as most of my athletes have excelled in private shows outside of the SAPS, and are now representing KZN,” he said.

Dhayaram asked business people to help with sponsorship for his team members who are going to Gauteng. “We are now representing the province, so we doing this for everyone. If people can assist with the accommodation expenses we will be very grateful.”
